Participatory Budgeting Notice

Participatory Budgeting (PB) voting has begun and it’s a great opportunity for City of Durham residents to have a voice in the budget process. There are approximately 40 projects currently listed within the three Ward ballots including playground improvements, bus shelters, sidewalk improvements, STEM equipment for youth, technology for schools, and many more to help improve our communities in Durham.

PB Durham Voting Requirements-

  *   must be 13 years of age or older at the time of voting
  *   must be a City of Durham resident or student

Voting will take place for the entire month of May, but don’t wait until the end of the month to vote. You can vote now by visiting https://www.pbdurham.org/vote_pb_durham 

The projects receiving the greatest number of votes in each ward will be implemented after July 1st.

Board of Adjustment

The Durham Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing on May 28, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. in the Committee Room, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 101 City Hall Plaza, to hear the following requests:
  • Case B1800032 - County: A request for a minor special use permit for an elementary educational facility in a residential district. The site is located at 5510 Barbee Chapel Road; is zoned Residential Rural (RR) and Falls Jordan District B Watershed Overlay (F/J-B); and in the Suburban Tier.
  • Case B1900006 - City: A variance from the required 20-foot maximum street yard, with the longest building façade not parallel to or located within the maximum street yard, and the building occupying less than 60% of the total street frontage. The site is located at 805 Briggs Avenue; is zoned industrial Light (IL) and Industrial (I); and in the Urban Tier.
  • Case B1900017 - City: A variance from the 50-foot riparian buffer and 10-foot no-build setback requirements for the construction of additional residential square footage. The site is located at 7 Edgestone Place; is zoned Residential Suburban-10 (RS-10) and Falls Jordan District B Watershed Overlay (F/J-B); and in the Suburban Tier.
