A Word from Wanda
Vote Now to Fund COVID Recovery Projects
Now through June 6, I encourage our residents to vote for the nonprofits and community organizations that will receive up to $50k to address COVID-19 needs. Residents and students 13 years and up can vote online in English or Spanish to choose which of 31 finalists will receive funding.
This is the second cycle of Participatory Budgeting Durham (PB Durham), a program which gives our residents a say in how we will use $1 million in grant funding to support the current needs of the community. To help reach to as many residents as possible, there will also be pop-up voting events at various locations including Durham Station, Durham County Health Services Building, and more.
We know the pandemic has affected access to food, jobs, and housing for many of our most vulnerable residents, and there are a lot of great proposals to address these needs in three categories – Community Building and Economic Opportunities, Health and Human Services, and Children, Youth, and Family Wellness.
Please help us by voting and spreading the word to your Durham family, friends, and neighbors. You can also follow PB Durham on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest updates. In addition to helping us prioritize funding, by voting you will also be eligible to win a $100 VISA gift card or gift cards to support local, minority-owned restaurants in Durham.
Until next week,
