Enjoy Free Parking in Downtown Garages from May 3-7
May is a big month in the Bull City with graduations, Mother's Day, and businesses starting to re-open to customers. To encourage residents and out-of-town visitors to make downtown Durham a part of these celebrations, from May 3-7, daytime parking is free in all City-owned parking garages – simply park and enjoy all that downtown Durham has to offer! As always, parking will remain free after 7 p.m. and all day on weekends.
Pilot Program Offers Free Daytime Parking for Downtown Employees
Downtown workers, many employed in the restaurant and hospitality industry, have been hit particularly hard by the financial impact of COVID-19. If you or your employees live in Durham, work downtown, and struggle to afford daytime parking for work, learn more about this program to provide free daytime parking for up to three months.

Durham youth who want to participate in paid, work-based learning experiences this summer can apply to participate in the 2021 Durham YouthWorks Program. Young adults ages 16-24 can apply now through May 2 for work experiences with local employers.
Apply by May 2 for Funding for Projects that Support Durham's Youth
Our Office on Youth has launched the Durham Youth Leadership Fund to provide up to $100,000 in grant awards for community-based projects to respond to the needs and dreams of Durham's youth. Young people, youth groups, community groups, and organizations can apply by May 2 for between $500-$20K.
DPAC Nominated for Theatre of the Decade Award
Pollstar Magazine has nominated DPAC for its new “Theatre of the Decade” award as part of the 32nd Annual Pollstar Awards’ Celebration. The award celebrates theatres that showcased superior talent booking, effective promotion, quality production values and staff, an exemplary experience for fans and artists, and consistent box office success over the last decade. The winner will be announced in June.

The accolade is the result of a recent WalletHub study that compared the relative startup opportunities that exist in 100 U.S. cities using 21 key metrics, ranging from the five-year business-survival rate to COVID-19 cases to office-space affordability.
