City's Waste Disposal & Recycling Center Closed to Non-Commercial Customers

Tuesday, March 17:: Starting March 18 at 4 p.m., the Waste Disposal & Recycling Center will close to all customers except large commercial accounts and City of Durham vehicles. Curbside residential collections are NOT affected.

Due to COVID-19 and social distancing mandates to ensure the safety of the public as well as employees, the City of Durham Waste Disposal & Recycling Center, located at 2115 E. Club Blvd., will be closed until further notice beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 to all customers EXCEPT large commercial account customers and other City of Durham vehicles.

Curbside residential collections for trash, recycling, yard waste, and bulky items are NOT affected by this closure. The department will re-open its Waste Disposal & Recycling Center as soon as it is safe to do so. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.

Since City vehicles and large commercial account customers require minimal person-to-person interaction, they will continue to have access to the Transfer Station tipping floor.

The following convenience center drop-off services will be unavailable to all other customers:

  • Trash
  • Mixed recyclables
  • Cardboard
  • Scrap Metal
  • Electronics
  • Appliances
  • Yard Waste
  • Tires
  • Textiles
  • Household Hazardous Waste
