A Durham man was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in connection with a June 2019 fatal shooting on East Geer Street.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service’s Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (Wilmington) arrested Elvin Fernando Lara, 28, in Havelock. He was placed in New Hanover County Jail without bond.
Lara is charged with killing 42-year-old Marco Antonio Estrada-Sandoval on June 24. Officers responded to a shooting call in the 1000 block of East Geer Street shortly before 9 a.m. and found Estrada-Sandoval dead inside a Dodge Durango.
Lara and Estrada-Sandoval knew each other, according to investigators.
