Central Park Waterline Replacement Project Update and Two-Week Look Ahead

The City appreciates your ongoing patience with the work along the busy corridors associated with the Central Park Waterline Replacement Project. Additional information regarding this project can be found at: http://durhamnc.gov/1251/Durham-Central-Park-Waterline-Replacement.


Planned Road / Lane Closures will occur as follows:

  • Week of 7/16:
    • Mangum Street will be reduced to one lane between Broadway Street and West Morgan Street.
    • Corporation Street eastbound lane will be closed between Rigsbee Avenue and Mangum Street.
    • Hunt Street will be reduced to one lane between Rigsbee Avenue and Mangum Street.
    • Liggett Street, Fuller Street, Fernway Avenue, Corporation Street between North Duke and Foster Street, and Foster Street between Corporation Street and W Morgan Street may be closed temporarily for repaving as equipment becomes available.
  • Week of 7/23:
    • Mangum Street will be reduced to one lane between Broadway Street and West Morgan Street.
    • Corporation Street eastbound lane will be closed between Rigsbee Avenue and Mangum Street.
    • Hunt Street will be reduced to one lane between Rigsbee Avenue and Mangum Street.
    • Liggett Street, Fuller Street, Fernway Avenue, Corporation Street between North Duke and Foster Street, and Foster Street between Corporation Street and W Morgan Street may be closed temporarily for repaving as equipment becomes available.

Week of July 16, 2018: 

  • Mangum Street will be reduced to one lane between Broadway Street and West Morgan Street as water line installation continues.
    • Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
    • Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control.
    • Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
    • Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
    • On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
    • Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
    • No water or sewer service disruptions are anticipated.
  • Corporation Street will be reduced to one lane as sanitary sewer line installation continues.
    • Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
    • Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control.
    • Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
    • Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
    • On-street parking will be closed in work areas.

  • Periodic one-lane interruptions will occur on Foster Street between Corporation Street and W. Morgan Street as water services are connected to the new water line.
    • Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control.
    • Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
    • Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
    • On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
    • Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
    • Residents and business owners will be contacted in advance of any service disruptions.
  • Residents and business owners on Hunt Street, Corporation Street, and Northwood Circle may be contacted about testing for sanitary sewer connections.
    • Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
    • Residents and business owners will be contacted in advance of any service disruptions.

Saturday – Sunday July 21-22, 2018:

  • No work planned.

Week of July 23, 2018:
