What is GIS?

GIS stands for Geographic Information System. GIS is the combination of digital maps and associated information (for example a map of streets with information such as name, addressing, speed limit, number of lanes, etc). GIS also involves the mapping and analysis of those datasets. For a more in depth definition, visit this website.

Stormwater Billing

The City of Durham's Stormwater utility is billed based on the amount of impervious area on each parcel of land within Durham's city limits. Due to the GIS nature of this billing the Stormwater Billing program is administered by the Stormwater Services Billing Unit and is a part of the Public Works GIS work group.

Digital Submittal Information

This is required information for submitting digital as-builts as part of the street or water and sewer acceptance process.
