Hazardous Materials Team
These personnel are specially trained to identify and mitigate chemical releases. This team strives to stop chemical release at the earliest possible stage in order to protect resident safety and the city's natural assets.
Technical Rescue Team
These specialized rescues may involve high/low angle, trench, swift water, vehicle, structural collapse, and confined space rescue situations.
Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team The department also responds to such incidents as a member of NC USAR Task Force 8, a FEMA equivalent Type I urban search and rescue team. This team is trained and equipped to conduct heavy breaching and breaking operations and responds to natural or man made disasters involving structural collapse. This team is capable of deploying within an hour and can respond anywhere in the state.
