The GoDurham Better Bus Project will design street, sidewalk, and bus stop improvements that provide safe access to bus stops, enhance comfort at bus stops, and improve bus service on GoDurham routes.
|Bus Access||Recommend and design sidewalks, crosswalks, curb ramps, and other pedestrian improvements that provide better access to bus stops.|
|Bus Stops||Recommend shelters, benches, and other improvements at bus stops that make waiting for the bus more comfortable and convenient.|
|Bus Service||Identify bus delay hot spots and design bus priority projects like changes to traffic signals, pavement markings, and signage that improve bus speed and reliability.|
Better Bus Project Overview
The 18-month Better Bus Project consists of five individual projects that will identify GoDurham bus access and service improvements system-wide, with additional focus on GoDurham Routes 3 and 5. A map of improvements can be found at the bottom of this page. Public engagement for the Better Bus Project is guided by the Equitable Community Engagement Blueprint, adopted by the City of Durham in 2019.
To learn about each of the five projects, feel free to explore each of their individual pages to the left. If you'd like to sort by improvement type and outcome, see below.
