The City Manager serves as the top executive officer, providing strategic direction and management oversight to City departments, as well as ensuring implementation of City Council goals and policies, achievement of performance expectations, while employing an equity and social-justice approach. March 15, 2021 - Durham City Council Names Wanda Page as City Manager
At the March 15 City Council Meeting, the Council voted 7-0 to name Interim City Manager Wanda Page to the permanent position, effective immediately. The announcement comes following an initial engagement with a firm to begin a national search last month. Read the full press release
March 4, 2021 - City Council Holds Special Meeting to Discuss City Manager Candidate(s)
The purpose of the meeting is to adjourn into closed session pursuant to NC General Statutes 143-318.11(a)(6) in order to consider the qualifications, competence, performance, character, fitness, and other attributes of one or more candidates for the position of City Manager.
February 1, 2021 - Executive Search Firm Selected

October 1, 2020 – Special City Council Meeting to Discuss City Manager SearchMeeting held to discuss next steps in the City Manager search. During this meeting City Council decided to move forward with an RFP process to select a search firm, and the creation of a Council sub-committee, with Mayor Steve Schewel, Council Member Javiera Caballero, and Council Member DeDreana Freeman serving on the sub-committee.
