The Department of Water Management is beginning a project to replace a segment of 12-inch aerial waterline over New Hope Creek that was washed away during flooding events associated with Hurricane Florence. This wash-out left a gap in the City’s water system. To prevent a similar occurrence in the future, the new waterline will be installed underneath the creek bed.
The Department of Water Management has also determined that an existing 12-inch sewer force main that runs parallel with the waterline is limited in capacity and needs to be increased in size. The replacement will be included in this project, as well. The location of the improvements can be viewed on the project area map.
The City has contracted with Highfill Infrastructure Engineering to perform the design work.
