Durham Police Department homicide investigators are asking for information about the 2016 murder of Cesar Yanez-Ortiz in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Guess Road.
Yanez-Ortiz, who was 24 years old when he died, had just returned home from grocery shopping shortly after 11 p.m. on November 29, 2016. As he and his family were unloading groceries, a black male wearing a white hoodie and blue jeans approached him. The male shot Yanez-Ortiz twice in front of his family members before running away. He was last seen on Horton Road.
Investigators believe robbery may be a possible motive for the murder.
