College Heights Historic District

A public information meeting about the National Register of Historic Places and the National Register nomination for the College Heights Historic District, see map, will be held on September 4, 2018, in the second-floor Committee Room at 101 City Hall Plaza in downtown Durham. This meeting will be in conjunction with the public hearing that the Durham Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is required to hold as part of their responsibilities as a Certified Local Government to review and comment on National Register nominations for properties in their jurisdiction. The Durham HPC’s September 4th meeting begins at 8:30 a.m., but the presentation on the College Heights Historic District will not begin until approximately 10:00 a.m. For additional information about the meeting, contact Karla Rosenberg, Durham HPC staff (919-560-4137, ext. 28259.

In addition to the HPC meeting on September 4, 2018, the College Heights Historic District will be considered for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places at the meeting of the North Carolina National Register Advisory Committee (NRAC) on October 11, 2018, in the third-floor conference room of the Archives & History/State Library Building at 109 E. Jones St., Raleigh. The Committee will decide whether submit it to the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, for final review and listing in the National Register.

The National Register is the nation's official list of historic buildings, districts, archaeological sites, and other resources worthy of preservation.
