This project involves the design of sidewalks and bicycle facilities on Cornwallis Road from Old Chapel Hill Road to South Roxboro Street. The total length is 1.2 miles and the design project budget is $533,381. The improvements include sidewalks and bicycle facilities. Final designs are now underway and will be added to this web site when available.

Alta Planning+Design of Durham, NC has been hired as the design firm to prepare plans, obtain permits, and hold informational meetings with stakeholders. They began data collection in August 2017. The first community input meeting was held 03/21/2018. Currently the project is at the 65% design stage. To seek input for this stage of the project and explain the proposed designed created with public input collected earlier this year, the department hosted a virtual community information meeting on Thursday, November 5 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to provide a project overview and explanation of the project design. A question-and-answer session followed the presentation. Participants were asked to register in advance for this online meeting to receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to join on November 5. A link to the comment form and meeting map can be accessed to the right under the Project Information. The comment period following the meeting ends November 19, 2020. Also to the right under Project Information you will find a transcript of the chat during the meeting, audio only file, video file and answers to questions asked during the meeting. Please be aware of the large size of the video file. Currently ALTA Planning+Design is working on the 90% plans.
