The City of Durham and Durham County work hand-in-hand to provide for the safety and protection of all residents. The Durham Police Department is responsible for protecting and safeguarding the lives and property of Durham residents through enforcement of criminal laws and safety education.
The City-County Emergency Management Department (Alert Durham) coordinates emergency response and recovery activity during accidents and disasters.
