The City of Durham is transitioning to an online application system. We are not accepting applications for employment at this time through our website to allow for the conversion. If you have already submitted an application for employment, it will be processed and will not be affected by the transition.
Effective January 1, 2015, the City of Durham will only accept online applications for employment opportunities and will discontinue accepting paper applications. The City will use an online applicant tracking system called Neogov to accept applications. When our site comes back up, you may wish to create an account so that you will be ready to apply when positions become available. You will be prompted to create an account when you apply for City of Durham positions after January 1, 2015.
When you create an account, you will enter basic information like name, address, education and work experience. This account is saved and you can access your account anytime using a username and password. You only need to create your user account once and then you can apply for many jobs using the same account.
If you do not have a Neogov account, the following will be required to create an account and apply for City of Durham positions.
1) An email account with a valid email address.
Note: a free email address can be established with a number of providers, such as Yahoo, Gmail, AOL and Hotmail. The City of Durham does not endorse any particular provider.
2) A computer with access to the internet.
Note: If you do not have a computer with internet access, you can view and apply for positions in locations such as public libraries, NCWORKS Career Center, and other public use computers. For your convenience, the City of Durham’s Human Resources Department will have stations available for your electronic submittal.
Thank you for your patience as we move to our new system. This change will make for a faster, better, simpler and more transparent application process.
