11 a.m. – volunteer training and distribution of safety vests and whistles
Where: Distribution of safety whistles to trail users – American Tobacco Trail near Southpoint Crossings and Morehead Avenue trailhead entrances
Volunteer training – American Tobacco Trail’s Morehead Avenue trailhead entrance. This training is only for volunteers who have already been pre-screened by the police department.
Fast Facts:
• Tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Performance Bicycle will hand out safety whistles to trail users at the Southpoint Crossings and Morehead Avenue trailhead entrances to the American Tobacco Trail.
• Beginning at 11 a.m., the Durham Police Department (DPD) will train 15 volunteers, who have already been pre-screened, at the Morehead Avenue trailhead entrance to the American Tobacco Trail. As part of this training, safety vests and whistles will also be provided to these volunteers.
• News media are invited to both events. DPD Capt. D. Allen will be present at the 11 a.m. volunteer training and available for on-site interviews.
