City Unveils Final Concept for Little Five Points Neighborhood Streetscape Design
Residents of the Little Five Points Neighborhood now have a better idea of what their streetscape project
will look like once it's finished. The final design concept was unveiled during a public meeting on July 24.
The meeting was held to allow residents and other stakeholders a chance to see the design and to offer
input. Economic Development Administrator Chris Dickey explains what is expected to be included in the
final project.
City Holds First Urban Design Studio
The City is laying the groundwork to make parts of downtown more pedestrian-friendly. An Urban Design
Studio was held on July 17 to hear opinions on how to improve the issue of poor pedestrian connectivity
along downtown's Blackwell-Corcoran-Foster Street Corridor. The studio was held as part of a new
ongoing series intended to be pro-bono visioning workshops the Durham City/County Planning
Department will develop and run for a variety of projects.
City to Hold E-Waste Recycling and Paper Shredding Event
The City will hold an E-Waste Recycling and Paper Shredding Event on Saturday, August 4 from 8 a.m. to
2 p.m. at the Durham County Memorial Stadium. Residents and businesses will be able to safely dispose
of nearly all electronic devices with a cord and unwanted paper documents. Waste Reduction Coordinator
Larrisha McGill explains specifically what will be accepted at the event and why it’s a convenient way to
dispose of waste.
