Campus Hills Pool Closed for Maintenance

Campus Hills Pool (2000 S. Alston Avenue) will remain closed through early fall for renovations to include replacing the dehumidification unit and circulation pump. During the closure, routine maintenance, including new lights and fresh paint will also occur.

The dehumidification unit was replaced at Edison Johnson Aquatics Center last year. The same work is scheduled to be done at Campus Hills this year due to recommendations made in the City of Durham’s Pool Assessment Study conducted in 2015.

The work was not scheduled to begin until late June but staff identified a leak in the pool gutters, and issues with the circulation pump which requires immediate attention. In the coming weeks, work will be done to repair the leak and the pump in addition to the regularly scheduled dehumidification replacement.

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) staff has found alternative locations for patrons who will be impacted by this closure and made arrangements to accommodate the community’s aquatic needs. DPR has extended the swim hours and offerings at both Hillside Pool and Long Meadow pool which are both within a 3-mile radius of Campus Hills Pool.
