East Main Street Waterline Replacement Project Update and Two-Week Look Ahead

We are nearing the end! Improvements to the City’s waterline infrastructure will continue along the East Main Street corridor. Additional information regarding this project can be found at: http://durhamnc.gov/3001/East-Main-Street-Waterline-Replacement.

Planned Road / Lane Closures will occur as follows:

  • Week of 10/9:
    • Lane shifts and flaggers on East Main Street between Roxboro Street and Fayetteville Street, Hood Street, South Elizabeth Street, and Ramseur Street.
  • Week of 10/16:
    • Lane shifts and flaggers on East Main Street between Roxboro Street and Fayetteville Street, Hood Street, South Elizabeth Street, and Ramseur Street.

Saturday-Sunday October 7-8, 2017:

  • No work is planned for Saturday, October 7th or Sunday, October 8th.

Week of October 9, 2017: 

  • Sidewalk/curb replacements and abandonment of existing waterlines in East Main Street between Roxboro and Fayetteville streets, Hood Street, South Elizabeth Street, and Ramseur Street will continue.
    • Lane shifts and flaggers will be used to maintain traffic at isolated locations in the project area.
    • Through traffic on East Main Street will be maintained.
    • Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
    • Pedestrian and driveway access to buildings / facilities will be maintained at all times.

Saturday-Sunday October 14-15, 2017:

  • No work is planned for Saturday, October 14th or Sunday, October 15th.

Week of October 16, 2017:
