East Main Street Waterline Replacement Project Update and Two-Week Look Ahead

September 21, 2017

Improvements to the City’s waterline infrastructure will continue along the East Main Street corridor. Additional information regarding this project can be found at: http://durhamnc.gov/3001/East-Main-Street-Waterline-Replacement.

Planned Road / Lane Closures will occur as follows:

  • Saturday, September 23:
    • Lane shifts and flaggers on East Main Street between Roxboro Street and Fayetteville Street, Hood Street, South Elizabeth Street, and Ramseur Street.
  • Week of 9/18:
    • Lane shifts and flaggers on East Main Street between Roxboro Street and Fayetteville Street, Hood Street, South Elizabeth Street, and Ramseur Street.
  • Week of 9/25:
    • Lane shifts and flaggers on East Main Street between Roxboro Street and Fayetteville Street, Hood Street, South Elizabeth Street, and Ramseur Street.

Saturday, September 23, 2017:

  • Sidewalk/curb replacements and abandonment of existing waterlines in East Main Street between Roxboro and Fayetteville streets, Hood Street, South Elizabeth Street, and Ramseur Street will continue.
    • Lane shifts and flaggers will be used to maintain traffic at isolated locations in the project area.
    • Through traffic on East Main Street will be maintained.
    • Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
    • Pedestrian and driveway access to buildings / facilities will be maintained at all times.

Week of September 25, 2017: 

  • Sidewalk/curb replacements and abandonment of existing waterlines in East Main Street between Roxboro and Fayetteville streets, Hood Street, South Elizabeth Street, and Ramseur Street will continue.
    • Lane shifts and flaggers will be used to maintain traffic at isolated locations in the project area.

Saturday-Sunday September 30 – October 1, 2017:

  • No work is planned for Saturday, September 30th or Sunday, October 1st.

Week of October 2, 2017:

Saturday-Sunday October 7-8, 2017:

  • No work is planned for Saturday, October 7th or Sunday, October 8th.
