This family oriented event is a celebration of African and African American history, culture, arts, and traditions. Special Guest
Bern Nadette Stanis, American actress and author will be available throughout the day to take pictures with and sign autographs. She is best known for her role as Thelma Ann Evans-Anderson, on the CBS sitcom Good Times (1974-1979). After Good Times, she made appearances on several television shows, including The Cosby Show and What's Happening Now!!. She is the author of four books, Situations 101: Relationships, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, For Men Only, Situations 101: Finances and The Last Night

Family Fun Zone 
The Family Fun Zone will celebrate the spirit of African community, engaging kids of ALL ages to bring out the “Kuumba,” (koo-OOM-bah) or creativity, within each of them. Join us for a fun-filled day exploring African cultural traditions!
  • Drum circles, arts & crafts, and story telling with the Durham Arts Council
  • Wood workshop with The Home Depot
  • Inflatables
  • Face Painting



Free parking will be available at the Durham County Stadium, 750 Stadium Dr.
