North Miami Boulevard (between Geer Street and Raynor Street) is a road that currently varies between 2, 3, and 4 travel lanes, with parking allowed in certain sections of the corridor. The posted speed limit is 35mph. The corridor provides access to the Village Shopping Center for many surrounding neighborhoods. Additionally, Sherwood Park can be accessed via Juniper Street.
The proposed restriping will provide a more consistent cross-section, and allow for bicycle facilities along the entirety of the corridor. It will also help slow traffic speeds. Parking is expected to be retained along most of the corridor.
Cross-sections of the proposed changes are below. You can comment on these proposed changes at this link. A public meeting will be held at the Whitted School in Durham on Saturday September 22 from 10am-1pm. At the public meeting you will be able to see the preliminary designs, ask questions of City staff and the consultants, and provide comments.
