Public Hearings and Notices

Durham Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. in the Committee Room, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 101 City Hall Plaza, to hear the following requests:

Case B1700028 – City: A minor special use permit for a nightclub in the Commercial Neighborhood Zoning District. The subject site is located at 2223 East NC 54 Highway, is zoned Commercial Neighborhood (CN) and in the Suburban Tier.

Case B1700038 - City: A minor special use permit to increase the height of an existing nonconforming structure. The subject site is located at 1200 West Chapel Hill Street, is zoned Commercial (CI) and in the Urban Tier.

Case B1700040 - City: A design special use permit to decrease the minimum glazing requirement for the Arcade frontage type. The subject site is located at 300 Morris Street, is zoned Downtown Design – Core (DD-C) and in the Downtown Tier.

Public Participation: Any person may attend the public hearing and should be present at 8:30 a.m. The chair will recognize all persons wishing to speak and will allocate time to individual speakers based upon the number of persons to be heard. Substantial changes to the proposed action may be made following the public hearing. The chair reserves the right to limit repetitive or hearsay testimony.



The following proposed text amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) are available for public review and comment, and may be viewed on the website. No public hearings have been scheduled at this time. The Joint City-County Planning Committee (JCCPC) has been presented with these amendments to provide comments and additional policy direction.

TC1700006- UDO Amendments to Sedimentation and Erosion control and Due to State Legislation
: Text amendments regarding updates to Sedimentation and Erosion Control provisions, and revisions to performance guarantees for infrastructure and subdivision regulations due to state legislation.



The Durham City Council will hold a public hearing on October 16, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 1st Floor, 101 City Hall Plaza, to hear the following requests:
