Emerald Ash Borer

The Emerald Ash Borer is a non-native beetle that feeds on the tissue of ash trees, eventually killing the trees.  It has already devastated tens of millions of trees in the Northeast and other parts of the country and has gradually spread down to North Carolina.  Foresters and arborists expect we will begin to see the effects of this beetle in Durham in the next few years.  Find out more about the Emerald Ash Borer, including what you could do to protect your own ash trees.

We will be having a forum on the Emerald Ash Borer on April 28 at 6pm on the 2nd floor of City Hall (101 City Hall Plaza).

Use this handy brochure to help you identify ash trees on your property.
