Public Meeting
The City of Durham Transportation Department held a public meeting on April 7, 2015, to discuss plans for the proposed Durham-Chapel Hill Roadway Reconfiguration Project. Handouts outlining project specifics were distributed and City/North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) staff members discussed project details and timelines.

Project Overview
The City of Durham Transportation Department and the NCDOT are evaluating a roadway reconfiguration project on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard (Chapel Hill Street Overpass to University Drive) to improve safety and maintain traffic flow along the corridor beginning in the summer of 2015.

The project will resurface the damaged road surface and restripe travel lanes. After reconfiguration, this section of Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard will have one center turning lane, one travel lane in each direction, bicycle lanes in both directions and on-street parking accommodations.

Studies indicate that this design will maintain current traffic capacity while improving the safety of people driving, walking, bicycling and taking transit. All work will be within the existing street and will not affect adjacent properties.
